#MYLDN (208) – Serpent’s Time

The weird world of the weally wealthy – yes, its another posh art doo at the annual opening of the Serpentine Pavillion where there seems to be only one remit – whatever you do, whatever you wear…just get noticed. Subtlety and style should always be sacrificed for visibility.

God, I hate these people…

Wealthy only this way…vaguely famous over there…art tarts and liggers that way…stupidly loaded over here…

Of all the people I could bring I brought you..and you brought those hideous tights..I can barely eat this soft-shell crab in tamarind sauce without wanting to vomit all over them…

Can I get down now please? I don’t like it here…

I apparently knocked two people out of the way to get this picture…think I’m really starting to get into this pap thing…I just feel like I belong amongst famous folk..they’re just so..umm…famousy.

The competition for most ridiculous outfit was hotly contested…

Without a bold look to garner attention this magnate-looking man took to the empty dancefloor, forcing people to stare with a slightly painful display of dad dancing…

Salmon and egg served in a jar which when sprung open released a puff of steam – and i thought vol a vonts were posh…

Yes I seem to be the most famous person here…oh bollocks..

A tough gig for Finlay as the guests struggled to look up from their iphones…

Others were just too focussed on holding their most flattering pose…

…and others just couldn’t bear that someone was getting more attention than them and took drastic measures to claw back the limelight…

This gentleman seemed happy in the knowledge that he was probably the richest person there…

Oh, yeah and there was some art there too…which may or may not have been noticed…

#MYLDN (136) – Bowie at The V & A

Opening night…

The exhibition is all about Bowie’s influence on almost every aspect of culture..music, art, fashion, cinema..he’s done the lot and for the most part done it better than anyone else. Seeing how many of the world’s glitterati had turned up to see this homage to the Great White Duke showed even more what a profound and lasting impact he had had on everyone. There were a lot of famous people there but for once they weren’t there to be seen, they were there because they were clearly fans. Members of most of the biggest pop bands of the 80s (soft cell, dexys, spandau ballet) were milling about  as well as Hollywood stars and la creme de la creme of the art world but like everyone else they just wanted to look at the mutitude of incredible Bowie artefacts on show. Bowie commands respect and rightfully so. He’s a fucking star, the brightest of the bunch.

If you’re into him, Bowie has affected you in a big way. Personally I think his greatest legacy was to show to people that it was ok to be yourself no matter what. Do what the fuck you like, just do it in style.  I have to say, it was a little overwhelming to try and consume everything on show all at once. It felt a bit like someone had spewed up David Bowie’s brain all over the V&A but, like, in a good way.  If I wanted to have a stroll around anyone’s mind, it would be his.

They said no pictures…I said, of course not. So sorry. But I wasn’t. And I did.

Mr David Dewaele aka 1 of 2manydjs stares up at his inspiration prior to playing an all Bowie set as part of the proceedings.

Can it be me? Puh-leeeease!

I love Kevin Rowland. Its a shame he didn’t seem quite so keen on me…

Tim Walker at Somerset House. Superb exhibition. On till mid Jan. The guy with the folder told me not to take any pictures and then kindly turned his back allowing me a quick steal. Sorry. Couldn’t resist.

Scary Baby Shop

Found this shop whilst strolling through the high street of the tiny town of Tullamore in Ireland. It was just nestled in amongst the regular stores and was without a shadow of doubt one of the freakiest things I’ve ever seen…what was it doing there? Had someone genuinely set up a “Society for the Prevention Of Cruelty to Dolls”? Was it a cry for help? Who was responsible? I spotted it whilst in town for  the music festival Castlepalooza so maybe it had been erected to mess up the minds of wasted festival go-ers. If that was the case, it had more than done its job.
