If there is a significant break in MYLDN posts its because I have been arrested for the excessive stalking of Paul Weller or I have been hospitalized by the aforementioned Mr Weller. I am however starting to think that it is now possibly him that is in fact stalking me? He’s everywhere I go, always there, staring at me, hoping I will take a picture. Maybe he wants to become friends and doesn’t know how to. If Agnetha in Abba could start dating her stalker maybe me and Paul could become friends, right?

This is why I am respecting his wishes by not revealing the identity of his children as he has just successfully sued the Daily Mail for printing photos of his kids. (read article here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-27049435). I just think that a court case at this stage could get in the way of our blossoming friendship. Maybe our next picture will be together…babycakes & his new bff…Paul, if you’re reading this, don’t be shy, reach out…I won’t reject you…

This week’s collection is entitled “dead in the mincers”…a captured moment where the watched watches the watcher. They are caught a split second before their self-awareness kicks in. In these moments you can steal an essence of truth. And then you can walk briskly away before they decide to inflict bodily harm on you.

(For non-londoners – mincers is an abbreviation of mince pies which is cockney rhyming slang for eyes)

And so ends this week’s series of posed shots in contrast to my usual smash and grab approach. (I have so few they all made it into one week…and a short week at that!)

Street photography is so utterly different from staged photography, they are in fact polar opposites. The former attempts to capture a moment of reality whereas the latter is to create a moment beyond reality. I personally prefer to show a person as they actually are rather than how they wish to present themselves although it is nice to take photographs of people with their consent. It feels a little more honest although the results are ironically less so.

London is relentless so you have to rest when you can. Got five minutes? take a nap, you’re going to need it. Unconsciousness on the underground is a common sight. A lot of Londoners look exhausted. The pace of the city is so fast its difficult to slow down, mainly because you don’t want to. If you don’t keep up you might miss something and there’s a lot to look at, all the time. So a snatched sleep between events is sometimes the only way to stay afloat. A moment of peace amidst the chaos.
