This week features people caught in R.S.P – Random Synchronised Positioning (yes, I did just make that up ). Every now and again chaos appears to have order but it is just an illusion, albeit a aesthetically pleasing one…

All the pictures from this week were taken within minutes of each other as I waited outside Evans for my girlfriend to make a purchase which took like for-eva because there was a whole thing with the till receipt and they had to get the manager who was on the phone and blah di blah di blah…I was instantly bored waiting and then I started to look around and the longer I was there the less bored I got. Its amazing what you can see in London when you stand still.
I saw people in love, I saw people who hated each other – some were trying to hide it, some not. I saw busy bees and lost souls. Sparks of youth and decrepit old age. I saw every conceivable different type of character from every walk of life, some happy in their skin, some not. When my girlfriend finally emerged I was kind of sad to leave. In London you’re so busy bombing around you don’t realise that the less you move, the more you will observe. I guess I could start loitering outside Evans but that just seems weird but next time I’m stuck somewhere I might just not care. I might even be happy about it.

So you may or may not have gathered that this week’s pictures are from Comic Con which was on at the Excel centre at the weekend. I could lie and say I only went because I was taking my nephew and his friends but I didn’t. I went for me. I am a geek. ComicCon showed me I could be proud to be a geek, that we geeks no longer need to hide, we can stand tall…and dress in spandex if we want to.
There were literally thousands at the event and it was weird to think that everyone there would normally have been on the periphery, the outsider, the nerd…and here they were en masse at the epicentre of their own society…it was their world, their domain, their rules. It was a strangely enriching experience to see all these geeks being able to be themselves without fear of recrimination or excessive violence. Superheroes, Sci-fi and gaming have become the biggest things on the planet so that means that deep down everyone must be a geek…yes, that means you too. You don’t have to be ashamed anymore. Time to get out of the geek closet. Join us! Be Geek! Be Proud!

And so this concludes TelAvivision week – TA is a buzzing city with a really great vibe. The city itself is quite mashed up and messy but in a good way and pretty noisy. The people are very relaxed and very very friendly. The food is amazing. Its on a beach and its a serious 24/7 party town. It ticks a lot of boxes and exists like any good city, in its own bubble universe. It has more in keeping with other cities like Berlin or Barcelona than it does with the rest of its country. It was not what you expect but then so few things rarely are. When we leave preconceptions at home we see things as they are, not what we assume them to be…
